Ford Ranger NZ Rural Games - on-going from mid-2014 - www.ruralgames.co.nz

 

The Ford Ranger NZ Rural Games brings all the rural 'sports that built the nation' alive. For 2 years it was in Queenstown and has now moved to Palmerston North. The sports include National and Trans Tasman Championships such as wood chopping, sheep shearing, sheep dog trials, Highland Games 'heavies' events, speed fencing and other traditional sports. All of which attracts over 40,000 people and gains annual international media coverage.

  • Summit Events was approached to provide a Site Manager, which then grew into a year-round event management contract.  Summit Events provides 10+ staff during the event including, operations coordinator, site manager, production manager and labour. Summit Events also provides the Health and Safety plans and oversees the safe delivery of the event. 

Queenstown Lakes District Council - on-going since 2011 - www.qldc.co.nz

 

QLDC manage and own the Queenstown Events Centre (QEC) and Queenstown Memorial Centre (QMC), the largest and highly sought after venues in Queenstown for major events and conferences.

 

  • Summit Events contracts a temporary Operations and Venue Manager for major events and conferences at QEC and QMC, responsible for overseeing all production, theming and safe delivering of annual events/shows. These have included the One Day International Cricket games, Mazda Car Launch, NZ Wine Awards, Billy Connolly, Simply Red and Grace Jones. 

  • Summit Events now leads under QLDC to deliver the annual Christmas Show and Waitangi Day event. 

Summit Events was successful in receiving the tender for the New Year's Eve celebrations 2014-2022 for Queenstown and Wanaka.

  • The contract includes the full management of both events in Queenstown and Wanaka including stage production, fireworks, entertainment, HR, H&S and sourcing funding from Community Trusts.

LUMA Southern Light Project - on-going from 2016 - www.luma.nz

 

LUMA Light Festival is a 4-day event over the Queen’s Birthday Weekend at the beginning of June. After a small Pilot project in 2015, 2019 saw the festival catapult into the limelight with  60,000 people attending. It engaged the community, attracted people from around NZ and gained NZ TV coverage. Year 5 has again already achieved significant funding from local Council and on-going backing from the local community/ businesses groups.

  • Summit Events was approached to provide an voluntary Operations Manager from year 1, which transformed into a year-round Operations team deliverable contract from year 2 and recently lead to being a co-Event Manager. Summit Events will always provide key staff and structure to the event, whilst supporting Trust applications and providing Health and Safety plans. 

Thriller in Chiller Charity Boxing event - 2012-2017 - www.thriller.co.nz

Known as Queenstown's annual premier charity event, Thriller grew to raise over $60,000 per year for charities, whilst also training 20 dedicated competitors who get in the ring and fight for 1 night infront of a 1500 strong sell-out crowd.

Following 5 years providing an Operations/Production manager Summit Events director Craig Gallagher purchased the event, however due to unforeseen circumstances the event is now in hiatus.
